Refurbishment of a Chelsea House

Our clients bought a semi-detached 4,400 SqFt early 20th century Arts & Crafts house and asked us to rework the layout and design within the building envelope. They also asked us to form a new basement beneath the whole house, increasing the total floor area by 1,800 SqFt.

Working within a sensitive Conservation Area, many complex Planning and Party Wall hurdles were overcome. The result is an enhancement of the quality and value of the house in a prime residential area.

Complex engineering was used to form the new 3m (10’) high basement spaces that were designed to read seamlessly with the existing rooms in the house. Every space in the house was carefully tailored to suit the young family. A very high standard of modern services was carefully integrated.

We worked with the clients and their interior designer to achieve a very personal and extraordinary level of finish and detail.
